Dr. Kathryn Stambough

OBG-YN

Bio

鈥淭he care I provide to trans youth is essential to their health and well-being. Every major medical association opposes these laws for a simple reason: they put trans youth at risk. I鈥檝e heard from so many families who are scared about what this law will mean for their children. I鈥檓 committed to doing everything I can to help these kids grow up healthy and happy, but this law would make that impossible.鈥

Plaintiff Dr. Kathryn Stambough is a doctor in the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAMS. Her clinic is part of Arkansas Children鈥檚 Hospital. She also treats patients at the Gender Spectrum Clinic one day each month. Neither UAMS nor ACH are plaintiffs in this lawsuit, and Dr. Stambough is pursuing claims in this action solely in her individual capacity.

As part of her work at the Clinic, Dr. Stambough provides, when medically indicated, gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender patients, usually at or after the age of 14.

Under the healthcare ban, Dr. Stambough could lose her license to practice medicine if she were to either provide gender-affirming care or refer patients to the Gender Spectrum Clinic for such care.
